About the company
Looking for a job that actually goes somewhere? Here's the deal.
We've spent more than 15 years becoming one of the UK's most trusted gutter cleaning names. Now we're investing in the next generation of talent — and that could include you.
Ben's Gutters has been going since 2010 — over 15 years in business, trusted across the whole of the UK for residential and commercial gutter cleaning. We're not some fly-by-night startup that might not exist next year. We're established, we're growing, and we need good people to grow with us.
This isn't a 'just for the summer' gig. We work every single day of the week, 7 days a week, which means steady hours and steady income — not the feast-or-famine you get in a lot of entry-level jobs.
Our commercial arm, Ben's Gutters Commercial, has become the UK's largest ISO-accredited commercial gutter cleaning company — working with names like Marriott, Holiday Inn Express, Sainsbury's, and the NHS. That didn't happen by accident, and it means there's a genuine career path here: start on the phones, and work your way up into bigger accounts, management, or sales as the business keeps expanding.
The more effort you put in, the more you get out — this is a place where hard work is noticed and paid for, not ignored.
We've built our name on honest quotes and treating customers right — and we treat our people the same way. You'll be trained properly, backed by a company that's fully insured and safety-accredited, and working alongside people who actually want you to succeed.
Before applying
For many of our roles, no. We provide full training, and we're more interested in attitude, reliability and willingness to learn. Each job advert lists any essential requirements.
It depends on the role. Field roles usually need a full UK manual licence held for 2 years due to insurance requirements; most office and sales roles don't. The job advert will say.
Our technicians work outdoors in most weather, and some tasks involve working at height.
Each advert shows the hours for that role.
Pay is shown on each advert and will include potential On-Target Earnings for that role.
Each advert shows the location. For office roles, we have three offices — Head Office in East Sussex, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Yes, though as humans screen our CVs you usually don't need to apply for multiple roles unless you don't hear back from us. Leave a covering note if you are interested in more than one role.
Applying
It helps, but it isn't essential. If you don't have one, tell us about your experience in the application form.
About 3 minutes on your phone.
For roles that require it, we will ask for your Driver's License. If you progress, we'll ask for proof of your right to work in the UK, photo ID, and any role-specific items such as a DBS certificate. You can upload them from your phone.
In most cases yes, and we'll see your previous application.
After applying
We aim to respond within 3–5 working days, but usually sooner.
Use "Track my application" with the link in your confirmation email, or ask our recruitment assistant in your portal at any time.
Check your junk or spam folder. If it isn't there, contact us at hr@bensgutters.com.
Apply → complete your application → book your interview → assessment day → start your training. Most people go from application to start in about 1–2 weeks.
Interviews and assessment days
You book it yourself through your candidate portal, and you can reschedule or cancel from the link in your booking confirmation.
Your first interview will be a video call and will last about 15 minutes. Second interviews, where applicable, are in person at your local office and are usually included as part of your assessment day.
It's a chance to see the job first-hand, meet the team and show us what you can do. It lasts about 2 hours at your local office, and is an unpaid opportunity to see if you want the role.
For office roles, the dress code is smart-casual. For subcontractors, please wear comfortable clothes and sturdy footwear. We provide any safety equipment needed.
Offers and starting
Yes, usually two, including your most recent employer where possible.
Only for certain roles. Where it's needed, we'll explain the process.
For office roles, you'll start with an induction and begin training for your role. For subcontractors, you'll meet your liaison in the office and collect any equipment you're purchasing, pick up your rental vehicle (where applicable) and complete the Health & Safety requirement training.
Many of our team have progressed into supervisor or management roles, and we promote from within wherever possible.
